I woke up today craving something healthy and nourishing, yet decadent and tasty. To spice up my day, I decided to add turmeric and cinnamon to my bowl of oatmeal. I have been adding turmeric to EVERYTHING lately! Turmeric has so many health benefits! It is a widely used spice that aids in detoxifying the body and decreases inflammation. It has a peppery, warm flavor and mild fragrance. It may taste slightly bitter alone, so I added stewed berries to the oatmeal, which in turn created a delicious sweet and sour flavor combination. The stewed berries are the perfect compliment to this dish.
I think you know by now that I LOVEEEE oatmeal… all kinds – I don’t discriminate! I love overnight oats, old-fashioned oats, steel-cut oats, the list goes on… However, this latest creation now tops my list and is my current favorite! This bowl of oatmeal is packed with so many nutrients and is an amazing kickstart to my day that leaves me feeling full and energized for hours.
The pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds and buckwheat granola add a nice crunch and texture to this dish. I also added a spoonful of nut butter on top, which gives the oatmeal an amazing, creamy consistency once stirred in. The nut butter also provides a healthy does of fat and protein.
This cozy, comforting bowl of oatmeal with warming spices is going to make you want to wrap yourself up in a a blanket and snuggle on the couch all day – isn’t that how you’re supposed to feel in November? 🙂Turmeric & Stewed Berry Oatmeal - the best way to spice up your morning! #vegan #glutenfree #turmericClick To Tweet
