Okay truth be told – I’m actually not a huge fan of traditional donuts. I truly don’t like fried food (it has nothing to do with being healthy, I have just never liked fried food even as a child). However, donuts seem to be all the craze these days. I see mouth-watering photos as I scroll through my Instagram feed and I always think they look amazing. Truth be told – every time I try a donut I don’t love the fried consistency. Also, call me crazy, but I think they’re dry. However, I recently made these raw (no-cook) salted caramel donut holes that are vegan/gluten-free and I am absolutely OBSESSED! They aren’t fried and are so moist. Finally – a donut that I love and they get bonus points for being made with such healthy ingredients!
These magical little balls have won me over. I have been snacking on them as well as enjoying them for dessert. They are so healthy that you can even enjoy them for breakfast! These raw salted caramel donut holes are made using minimal and clean ingredients. They are raw and do not require any baking or frying. These donuts are so full of flavor and are absolutely mouth-watering AMAZING!
I used my new KitchenAid 16-Cup Food Processor to grind up the ingredients for the dough and it worked amazingly well! The food processor made the entire grinding/chopping process so easy. I’ve owned a few food processors in my life and this one definitely tops any I’ve ever tried! This food processor is officially my favorite kitchen countertop appliance. Raw Salted Caramel Donut Holes
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Total Time: 50 minutes
- Yield: 10 donut holes 1x

- 1 cup raw cashews
- 1 cup pitted medjool dates
- 1/4 tsp pink sea salt
Salted Caramel Sauce:
- 3 tbsp coconut oil
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp pink sea salt
To make the dough:
- Place the donut ingredients (cashews, dates and pink sea salt) into a food processor and grind into a thick, moist dough.
- Roll the dough into balls and place in the freezer until the dough is firm in texture (approximately 20 minutes).
To make the salted caramel glaze:
- Melt the coconut oil on low heat, then remove from the heat and whisk in the maple syrup and pink sea salt to form a thin caramel sauce.
- Dip the donut holes into the caramel sauce, covering each one completely.
- Place the donuts back in the freezer until the glaze has hardened.
Store the donut holes in the freezer for up to 3 months. Allow 10 minutes to defrost before eating.
