Healthy Kids Month

As a health-conscious mama I’m always thinking of new ways to get my toddler to eat healthy meals as well as healthy snacks. I find that Emma is more easily convinced to try something new if I involve her in the cooking process. I ask her for her opinion and get her involved and engaged in the kitchen. The same goes for snack time. I make sure we have fun in the kitchen, in order to always make food and eating a positive experience.

It’s so important to pack healthy lunches and give your children healthy meals and snacks, because you want to create good habits that last a lifetime.

Mambo Sprouts kicked off Healthy Kids Month with some of my favorite brands, so I want to share how to make healthier meals and snacks using these products. These are great lunchbox and at-home ideas! I’ll also share ideas of how to ‘Sneak Them In’, which refers to sneaking in veggies.

The following brands are partners in ‘Healthy Kids Month’ so I’d love to share some knowledge about these wonderful brands in addition to healthy snack and meals ideas!

Peeled Snacks believes you should feel good about snacking. That’s why they developed strong partnerships with their farmers and suppliers to grow the best tasting organic, non-GMO and gluten-free ingredients and turn them into delicious snacks. Peeled Snacks make sure everyone has the option to eat a genuinely good tasting snack that’s as close to nature as possible.

All Peeled Snacks fruit and ingredients are certified organic, which means they were grown with natural fertilizers, without chemicals or toxins. They are proud to be a part of the organic food revolution, which sets the bar for conscientious farming practices, encouraging clean food production, and supporting healthy communities.

Peeled Snack’s Peas Please and Puffs all have 1/2 cup of veggies per serving and 4-5 grams of protein, so there’s no ‘sneaking’ necessary, since they’re addicting and healthy!

I love adding Peeled Snacks gently dried organic apples to Emma’s lunchbox as a healthy snack! They’re also delicious in my apple pie baked oatmeal!

Back to Nature creates delicious and flavorful recipes inspired by nature. They carefully select their ingredients to create great-tasting products that you can enjoy all day long. Back to Nature’s mission is to provide everyday foods that are simply delicious, simply good. While the business has grown, their mission has never changed: Give people truly delicious foods made from recipes inspired by nature.

Below are some great ‘Sneak Them In’ Ideas:

  • Sun Dried Tomato Crispy Wheat with Capers, Dill and Cream Cheese
  • Harvest Whole Wheat with Swiss and Hummus
  • Classic Rounds with Avocado and Shrimp
  • Classic Rounds with Cucumber & Parsley Cream Cheese
  • Pink Himalayan Salt Multigrain Flatbread with Herbed Cheese and Tomato

Enjoy Life Foods was created with the mission to help people with food allergies and dietary restrictions eat freely and with confidence. All of their products are specifically made to be gluten-free and free form 14 common allergens: wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, casein, soy, egg, sesame, sulfites, lupin, mustard, fish, shellfish and crustaceans.

A great ‘Sneak Them In Idea’ is Homemade Chocolate Chip Zucchini Bread. Your kid will be so excited about the chocolate chips in their snack that they’ll never notice or taste the zucchini.

The Country Hen is USDA Certified Organic, which means no harmful pesticides, no added hormones, and no antibiotics come into contact with their hens or their delicious eggs. Their farm is also Certified Humane Raised and Handled, which means that they take really great care of their hens. They even made a certified organic feed for their hens all by themselves, in their own mill.

Egg Pops are an awesome ‘Sneak Them In’ Idea:

Cut 4 inch sticks from carrots and celery and stick them into the wide part of a hardboiled egg. These can be served with any dips, sauces, or seasonings. They are a fun snack that can get kids involved in the kitchen while providing some great nutrition from the vegetables and eggs.
