Natural Beauty Products Leahs Plate 1024x1024 - My Favorite Natural Beauty Products

I have been eating organic and wholesome food with real ingredients for about five years now. However, I never used to pay much attention to what I was putting on my body, just what I was putting in my body. However, that all changed when I became pregnant in March of 2015. They day I found out I was pregnant I not only read the ingredients in foods I was putting into my body, but I also started reading the ingredients in shampoos, face creams, lotions, etc. I was horrified after seeing some of the toxic ingredients and chemicals I have been putting onto my body for years.

Since our skin soaks up our lotions and products we use I immediately got rid of all my products and began the search for non-toxic and chemical-free beauty products. Over the past year and a half I tried so many different shampoos, soaps, lotions, deodorants and nail polishes. There were many that didn’t work or I just wasn’t fond of. After much trial and error, below are my top picks and why I like them:

Body Moisturizer:  I have tried SO many body lotions and have found pure, unrefined coconut oil to be my favorite as a body moisturizer. The only ingredient is coconut oil, so you know it is super clean. It is by far the most moisturizing and you will smell like the tropics. Be sure to put it on after the shower to give your skin some time to soak it up before heading out the door or getting in to bed. My favorite coconut oils are: Nutiva, Spectrum and Carrington Farms

Hair Mask:  Again, I vote coconut oil for this one! I put coconut oil on my hair and put it into a bun about one hour prior to showering. It is by far the most moisturizing hair treatment you can give yourself and it leaves my hair feeling so soft and silky.

Treating Blemishes: Apple cider vinegar – yep that’s it! Just dab some ACV on your pimple and watch it clear up 🙂

Shampoo & conditioner: I love Acure for both shampoo and conditioner. It smells amazing and leaves my hair so soft and shiny.

Body Soap: I love Dr. Bronner’s soap bar and liquid soap. You can also use the liquid soap as shampoo, conditioner and face wash! The soap has a few different scents and all smell amazing. They are also super gentle on your skin.

Face Soap: I am a huge fan of the Acure face soap. It doesn’t irritate my skin and I haven’t had a pimple since using it! It’s super gentle and leaves my skin so soft.

Lip balm: I also love the Dr. Bronner’s lip balm. It works really well and my lips are never chapped or dry. You can also dab some coconut oil on your lips (haha yes I really do use coconut oil for everything it seems!)

Deodorant: I recently discovered a new brand called Holly’s Keeping It Real All Natural Deodorant sold on Etsy. I have literally tried 20 different all-natural deodorants and none of them worked. I was thrilled when I finally found this one that actually works! I take kickboxing classes and still smell good after! Use code Leah15 for 15% off 🙂

Nail polish: I love Dr.’s Remedy nail polish. The polish does not contain harmful ingredients like toluene, formaldehyde, and camphor, but rather is enriched with organic ingredients like biotin, tea-tree oil, garlic bulb extract, and lavender. The chemicals used in traditional nail polishes often lead to dry, brittle and often times, discolored nails.

Body Scrub: I love Kona Body scrub. It helps to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite and only contains natural, real ingredients. It’s so clean that you could eat it!

Treating puffy eyes: I put chilled cucumbers on my eyes for about 10 minutes. I feel like I’m at a spa 🙂
